17-year-old Shaun was an active and enthusiastic young man. Studying in Class 12th (Commerce), he spent most of his hours occupied with college and tuitions. Cricket was his all-time favourite sport, and Malinga, his favourite player. But as he continued to make the most of his teenage years, a tragedy befell him.
On 23rd January 2020, Shaun fainted at his tuition class. His mother, Sharmila, was terrified when she received the call. On undergoing an MRI and CT scan at the hospital, it was confirmed that the reason for Shaun’s sudden unconsciousness was a brain aneurysm. It was frightening for the mother to watch her son being taken in for multiple surgeries. She struggled to cope with her emotions when the staff handed over the bills for the hospital stay and surgeries. Even after spending all her savings, she couldn’t arrange the funds for the surgery. The amount was massive for Shaun’s middle-class family to bear.
With no money or resources left, Sharmila reached out to us, at Impact Guru for help. You, dear donors, warmed up to Shaun’s story and contributed to his treatment. The 17-year-old is now out of harm’s way after months of hospital stay. He enjoys spending time with his parents and is slowly heading back to his studies.
Shaun and his family witnessed the power of crowdfunding on Impact Guru’s online platform only through your generosity. We thank each and every one of you for your support.
