After being mocked for years,
Crowdfunding turns Darshan’s life around
Darshan’s First kidney stopped functioning when he was just 2-years-old. Soon after, he had his first surgery. By the age of 9, his limbs began swelling. Darshan could barely walk. His mother Ashabai, ended up visiting every hospital in Nashik. Doctors told her that a second surgery was Darshan’s only chance. Ashabai exhausted her savings to save her only family but, surgery didn’t make Darshan’s life easy.
He had to carry his tube and urine bag with him all the time. Shamed by his classmates, Darshan preferred staying home rather than going to school. As Darshan’s only working kidney started giving up, he needed urgent kidney transplant which would cost Rs. 7 lakh.
With no more funds to spare, Ashabai didn’t know what to do. Looking at the mother and son’s pitiable state, a compounder at the hospital suggested crowdfunding. After consulting some doctors, the family started a fundraiser on ImpactGuru.com
In no time the fundraiser raised close to Rs. 9 lakh. The 13-year-old fighter got bladder correction surgery. Although he is still awaiting a transplant, Darshan doesn't need to carry a urine bag around.
ImpactGuru.com thanks all those who became Darshan’s saviours.
