Tamil Nadu’s former state-level cricketer, personal fitness consultant, father-of-two, and a doting husband. According to Sumeer, these titles were his greatest achievements, until the years following 2012 gave him more battles to fight and more milestones to achieve.

For a man who always had a clean bill of health and no bad habits, learning that his life’s next test match was with acute renal failure was quite devastating. From 2012 to 2015, Sumeer spent three days of his week getting dialysis. Even after undergoing a cadaver kidney transplant, his transplanted kidney began failing in 2019. This, however, wasn’t enough to stop the conscientious man. He continued with tri-weekly dialysis and underwent lung and heart surgery before going for a second kidney transplant.

The unstoppable man was on his feet even after undergoing 9 surgeries in total! Sumeer’s sheer gusto earned him recognition by the Asia Book of Records 2020 and Indian Book of Records 2020 as the ‘Grand Master’ for being the first person to complete a 10km marathon within 113 days of his second renal transplant.

A year after becoming a record-setter, Sumeer suffered a mini-stroke while playing badminton. The right side of his tongue, lip, and hand was paralyzed. He started slurring in his speech too. Tests revealed he needed urgent open-heart surgery once again to repair his damaged heart. Even though he had the will to overcome this complication, he still needed Rs 21 lakh for the surgery.

Years of dialysis, surgeries, medicines, and hospital bills had already burned Sumeer’s pockets. He turned to ask for help on Impact Guru’s fundraising platform. There, his inspirational journey moved the hearts of 231 donors and more than Rs 17 lakh was raised!

Sumeer is alive and kicking post-surgery. His kids and wife are humbled by your kindness. He is ready to break more records and change more lives with his inspiring presence.

‘Thank you Impact Guru donors! You made me the man of the match when life dealt me googlies one after another. Your kindness added to my strength when I was at my lowest. Thank you a million times! Please keep up the good work. The world needs more of you!’
