What documents are required to run a fundraiser on Impact Guru?
NGOs: If you’re raising funds for an NGO, you will be required to submit your 12A certificate and 80G certificate. If you wish to receive foreign donations please also share your valid FCRA certificate.
Individuals (medical causes): If you’re an individual looking to raise funds for medical expenses you will be required to submit the patient’s identity details, test reports and invoice (if any), hospital/clinic name doctor’s name & contact details, beneficiary’s bank account details.
Individuals (other causes): For individuals looking to raise funds for other personal causes please share your identity proof and bank account details. It would help your fundraiser if you could provide any other documents that would validate your fundraising need.
What are some things I should do before launching my fundraiser?
- Be clear about the objective of your fundraiser.
- Gather all the necessary information for your fundraiser story.
- Gather high-quality pictures that are most relevant and can communicate your story to the viewer.
- A video that is shorter than 2 minutes and can communicate your story could be very powerful.
- A good set of rewards can attract potential donors towards your cause. Sometimes, even a small thank you note goes a long way.
- Create a support group of family and friends who can not only contribute but also help spread the word.
How long does it take to create and launch a fundraiser?
It takes around 15 minutes to create a fundraiser on Impact Guru, if you have all the mentioned things ready, like the fundraiser story, images, goal amount etc. The time varies depending on how much effort you want to put into it and how much information you want to share.
How long can I run a fundraiser on Impact Guru?
Usually, a fundraiser on Impact Guru runs between 1 to 3 months.
What happens if my fundraiser isn't successfully funded?
If you’re unable to successfully meet your fundraising goal, you will receive the money your fundraiser has collected (minus Impact Guru’s fees and service tax) after the completion of your campaign.
Can a fundraiser collect more funds than their goal amount?
Yes, fundraisers may collect donations even after reaching their goal amount till the duration of the fundraiser ends. This happens commonly on Impact Guru
How long does a fundraiser remain on Impact Guru?
Your fundraiser will always remain on Impact Guru. However, once it expires people will not be able to donate towards it.
What is a support fundraiser and how can I use them?
A support fundraiser is intended to raise awareness and funds for another fundraiser (primary fundraiser) whose cause you support ardently. All funds raised through a support fundraiser goes to the beneficiary of the primary fundraiser, leaving you with a lot of good wishes.
Do donors of NGO fundraisers get tax exemption?

What should I consider when setting my fundraiser goal?
It is important to decide your fundraiser goal amount very carefully as it affects the decision of the potential donor. If the amount is too low donors may not feel compelled enough to donate. On the other hand, if the amount is too high donors may feel that their contribution might be insignificant. A fundraiser goal between Rs. 1-10 Lakh(s) has the highest probability of being achieved. Therefore, we suggest you to start small and later get in touch with your relationship manager to increase the goal amount if need be.

I can't find a category that fits my fundraiser - what do I do?
If you can’t find a fundraiser category that fits your own, please select the ‘Others’ option located at the bottom of the ‘Select Category’ drop down list.
What should I cover in my fundraising story?
A good fundraiser story provides all the necessary information required to make a donor feel invested in it. Typically this includes, but isn’t restricted to, details of the beneficiary, the fundraiser’s cause, the beneficiary’s need and how one can contribute towards the fundraiser.
How can I upload photos and videos to my fundraiser page?
While creating your fundraiser you will be asked to upload photos and videos of your choice. The size of the photos you upload must be 700 pixels x 400 pixels at least. The photo can be of any file format. To upload videos, place their YouTube or Vimeo urls in the designated field. You can add/remove new photos and videos whenever you want.
Are rewards mandatory?
Rewards are not mandatory but it is a good idea to show how much you appreciate the contribution of your donors. Rewards can range from a social media shout out to cool merchandise of your product/brand. More often than not, even a ‘Thank You’ note or a shout out on Facebook works really well but it’s always great to be creative with your rewards.
How do I charge the shipping of my rewards?
We do encourage our campaigners to always honor their rewards’ commitments. However, the responsibility for this rests entirely with the campaigner who is running the fundraiser.
Can a fundraiser be edited after going live?
Your fundraiser title, story, photos, videos and goal amount can all be edited after going live. Every change made to your title, story, photos and videos will be reflected on your fundraiser story page only after being approved by Impact Guru. To alter your goal amount after receiving your first donation please contact your fundraiser manager.
Why do I have to submit my fundraiser for approval?
Every live fundraiser on Impact Guru goes through a verification process before it can get an IG approved status. We verify the authenticity of your fundraiser objective, check for the level of requisite information provided via fundraiser story, photos or videos and make necessary suggestions to enhance your fundraiser.
My fundraiser just went live, how do I get people to contribute?
Congratulations! You have taken the first step to your fundraising journey with Impact Guru. Go ahead and make a small donation yourself and lead by example before you share your fundraiser on various social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Whatsapp and Email with people within your network. You must share frequently and at different times of the day as it serves as a good reminder for your folks, who intend to donate but might have missed your message the first time.
Also, request your family and friends to donate and share the fundraiser to get the word out and help make your fundraiser a success. Every share on social media helps multiply the visibility of your fundraiser manifold. So keep sharing and be persistent. Also,remember to show your gratitude to all your donors for their generosity by offering rewards, or posting a simple Thank You to them in return.
How can I make sure my fundraiser is discoverable on Impact Guru?
All IG approved fundraisers automatically appear under the ‘Donate’ tab of Impact Guru’s website. This makes your fundraiser visible to the world at large. Fundraisers that are doing well and have raised more than 30% of their goal amount have a higher chance of being featured in the trending section on Impact Guru’s homepage. This increases the visibility of your fundraiser and improves your chances of receiving a donation.
How do I know if someone contributes to my fundraiser?
We will send you an email notification every time someone donates to your fundraiser.
What are updates on my fundraiser page?
Posting relevant updates when there is something to add to your story can help build a strong connect with your donor base. For example, an update on the health of a patient, or progress of an NGO project, your fundraiser hitting the 50% goal milestone, press mentions or any new rewards you decided to add, will help your donors be connected to your cause.
If I am unsuccessful, can I raise funds for my cause again?
Yes, you may attempt to raise funds for your cause again. Get in touch with our relationship manager for help on how to do things differently this time.
What are the fees to run a fundraiser on Impact Guru?

When do I receive my funds?
Impact Guru disburses funds within 7 working days, after the completion of your fundraiser.
