We see stray animals like dogs, cats and cows all around us, be it in the locality we live or on the streets. But have we ever questioned, “How many of these animals actually live around us?”The answer may surprise some of you! There are currently 6.2 crore stray dogs and 91 lakh street cats in India. Many of them struggle to live consequently leading to a low survival rate.
The average lifespan of a stray dog is 5-6 years but some of them live even more than 14 years. However, the conditions in which they live are terrible. Some walk around hungry, in search of food, some lay diseased, and some are injured and require urgent help. These poor little creatures go unnoticed. So, how do they end up like this? Do they not deserve a life as we do? And the real question out of everything is, “What can we do to change this?”
One of the ways through which you can save a stray animal’s life is through fundraising. We can help them by collecting donations through online crowdfunding. Do not worry as we have your back -
How to fundraise to help these animals? Here are a few solutions to help these innocent creatures:
Adopt an animal: Instead of buying or breeding companion animals like dogs and cats respectively, you can consider adopting them. There are various animal rescue groups and shelters that you can approach for animal adoption. You can bring home your new family member in these simple steps:
Choose your pet
Find an animal shelter
Fill up the adoption form
Take your tailed one home

Volunteer at an NGO, animal rescue group or animal welfare organization: There are several NGOs in India that support the rescue and rehabilitation of stray animals. If you are a street animal lover, you can either start your own NGO or be a part of it or even contribute to it in the form of donations through fundraising. A rescued animal is often brought to a wildlife sanctuary so that it could live freely in its natural habitat. A wildlife sanctuary is an example of an animal welfare organization. These organizations are concerned with the health, safety and wellness of the animals. Such organizations include wildlife sanctuaries. Apart from PETA India, we have the National Institute of Animal Welfare(NIAW), People for Animals(PFA), Blue Cross of India and more.

Contribute to a shelter: An animal shelter is a place where stray, lost or abandoned animals are accommodated. You can contribute to animal welfare either by donating directly or by joining as a volunteer. In India, we have the concept of Goshalas, which is a shelter for homeless or elderly cattle in India. One can contribute to a Goshala by feeding the cows or by adopting one.
Fundraising For Animals:
If you cannot physically contribute to the well being of rescue and helping animals, no worries because there are many other ways to help! Start a fundraising campaign for the shelters of your choice.
