“Cancer may always be a part of your life, but it won’t always be the center of your life.” Anonymous
Have you seen a lot of pink in the month of October? Well if you’ve seen people wearing a pink ribbon around you, then they are celebrating the pink month. October comes with different meanings for different people. Many (including breast cancer survivors) refer to the month as “Pinktober,” some with affection while others with a dash (or more) of disdain.
The arrival of PINKtober ushers in the annual campaign to increase awareness about Breast Cancer and is internationally celebrated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In the last few decades, doctors have seen a drastic increase in cancer among young adults. What’s more surprising is that as per reports, Breast Cancer has ranked number one among Indian females!
According to the National Library of Medicine, Breast Cancer is the most common type of cancer and the second leading cause of death. This disease is the primary cause of mortality among women aged 45–55 years and is the second leading cause of cancer-induced death.

Talk Cancer - Let’s Make A Difference This Pinktober!
Let’s just say October is more than a sea of pink ribbons. It provides us an annual opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of women worldwide. Your direct actions can bring about a change in the world by taking the lethal disease head-on and advocating for women of all ages who could be affected by it at some point in their lives.
There are many things that you can do to raise Breast Cancer awareness. We are sharing some ideas for you to safely get involved with Breast Cancer Awareness. Go ahead and add your own ideas as every effort counts.
Wearing a pink ribbon daily in October - October time, Pinktober time! You can wear pink ribbons to your office to promote Breast Cancer Awareness and also encourage fellow employees to do the same. Wearing it daily can act as a reminder to keep conversations going about breast health and normalize talking about it.
Share information via social media - This is one of the easiest ways to get involved and you can urge your family and friends to do the same. By doing so, the reach becomes grander with each post you share.
Promote Self-Examinations - During the entire Breast Cancer Awareness Month, you could urge every woman you know to do breast exams at home. Women must understand the importance of doing an exam and get help right away for support if they suspect something unusual to be concerned about.
You can participate in a run or a walk - You can participate in walks or fun runs to raise and promote breast cancer awareness. Some organizations also give the option for you to earn money for the charity of your choice through participating in such events.
You can create your own fundraiser - You can have a DIY event of your choice with the proceeds going to a Breast Cancer charity. This would be a fantastic way to support an important cause like Breast Cancer.
