Attention! Savdhaan!
In the humble streets of Kolhapur, these words echo not from a loudspeaker but in the form of the soft, spirited voice of 5-year-old Dhanushri Jadhav.
Dhanushri, who dreams of becoming a police officer, has already started her training. She currently performs the marching routine she saw on TV once for an audience of three—her parents and younger brother.
As she marches forward, performing salutes, her parents watch with adoring eyes and proud applause. Seeing her so happy and playful today, their minds can’t help but flash back to a much, much darker time when their little Dhanushri had gone silent, struggling between life and death.

What happened to little Dhanushri?
To answer this, we’ll have to go back to the beginning. Ever since her birth, Dhanushri was the laadli of the Jadhav family. Born after years of prayers, she was everything they had dreamed she would be, with a radiant smile, bright eyes, and an adorable face.

After a few months, their blissful bubble burst when doctors warned them of Dhanushri’s liver condition. Fortunately, it was easily fixable with a minor surgery, and everything had gone smoothly then. With Dhanushri’s health improving remarkably, the family breathed a sigh of relief, thinking the worst was behind them.
Everything changed when Dhanushri turned 5.
Dhanushri, a happy-go-lucky child, suddenly lost her smile. She was slowly getting inactive and had stopped playing or laughing to the point where she couldn’t even move. That’s when her parents knew something was terribly wrong.
A doctor’s visit revealed their worst nightmare: her liver condition had come back, and this time, it was life-threatening. Little Dhanushri urgently required a liver transplant, costing a whopping ₹24,50,000.

Her father, a humble farmer, earned ₹250 a day, barely enough to scrape two meals a day for the family. Without the required funds, it felt like their sweet, innocent daughter had just been handed a death sentence. Never had they imagined that their daughter’s life would depend on their financial condition. They felt too distraught to know how to move forward.
But the Jadhav family was not one to give up.
Dhanushri’s condition was worsening day by day with no hope in sight. Fearing their worst nightmares would come true, the family sprang into action.
They exhausted every option—using up their personal savings, borrowing from family and friends, and even putting their land on mortgage. But it still wasn’t enough.

While they had managed to start Dhanushri’s treatment, they were still falling short of funds for her liver transplant.
That’s when their story took a turn for the better.
Amidst their struggle, a ray of hope emerged in the form of a hospital official, who introduced the family to ImpactGuru - a trusted online fundraising platform. “But how would that even work? Why would strangers pay for our child’s treatment?” they wondered.
But even in this doubt, a flicker of hope remained. Taking a leap of faith, they created a fundraising campaign on ImpactGuru and shared Dhanushri’s tale with the world. To their amazement, support began pouring in immediately from kind souls around the world.
Beyond financial assistance, the family found emotional support from ImpactGuru’s team and the donor’s well wishes, giving them the strength to keep going.

Thanks to the raised funds, they were able to schedule Dhanushri’s liver transplant.
This was a life-saving step they feared they would never reach, made possible with ImpactGuru’s support and guidance. In an emotional moment, Dhanushri’s mother turned out to be a match and, without hesitation, donated part of her liver to her daughter.
For her mother, it felt like a second chance—a rare opportunity to give the gift of life to her precious one all over again.

Today, Dhanushri is happy, healthy, and back to her old self.
After a successful liver transplant, Dhanushri has started going to school again, and loves reading, writing and playing with her friends. From being mischievous to reciting popular police dialogues around the house, she is finally enjoying her childhood and looking forward to a bright future ahead.
As painful memories of their little Dhanushri transform into joyful ones, her parents are jolted back to the present by Dhanushri herself.
“Were you not watching my marching performance?”, she asks with a frown.
Without a word, her mother tearfully pulls a confused Dhanushri into her arms, thinking about how fortunate they are to have their precious daughter back home, safe and sound.
“Of course I was watching, dear. You’re going to grow up to be an amazing police officer and make all your dreams come true.”, her mother replied, hugging her tightly.
Thanks to ImpactGuru and kind donors, little Dhanushri can finally keep chasing her dreams.
