How Akshda’s Story Touched Hearts: A Donor’s Perspective

Unfortunately, not a day passes by without seeing such horrific headlines all around us—whilst reading the morning newspaper, surfing through news channels, or doom-scrolling on social media. Amidst this sea of pain and despair all around the world, we can’t help but feel helpless, wishing we could do something.  

Eventually, we learn to avert our eyes, flip the page, or scroll past. It is what I, Riya Sen, had learned to do. That was when I came across something on social media that changed my point of view indefinitely. Prepared to scroll past what looked like yet another bone-chilling accident video, I realized something was different.

It wasn’t just another heartbreaking news story but a heartfelt appeal for support. A 21-year-old girl named Akshda had met with an accident and required financial support for further treatment and recovery. I could actually do something to help this sweet, innocent girl.

Delving into Akshda’s Tale

The video led me to her fundraising page on ImpactGuru, an online medical crowdfunding platform. The more I read her story, the more attached I became to Akshda. Oh, what a cruel fate she had suffered at just 21 years old!  

She had survived a dangerous truck collision, but had suffered severe injuries in her hands, legs, and face. Feeling a sense of community, I didn’t hesitate to donate ₹2000, an amount that was the best of my capabilities. I knew that every contribution, no matter the amount, gave a better fighting chance for Akshda to complete her treatment.
