It’s Pinktober! Raise awareness on Breast Cancer

We all love October, don’t we? For its festivities, for the slight chill in the air, for the colorful decorations all around us. It’s just so positive and lively. However, there’s one more reason to hold October close to our hearts and that is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Internationally, October is observed as the breast cancer awareness month to increase awareness on the disease and raise funds for research towards its cause. It is one of the most prevalent and fatal forms of Cancer in India. According to Government data, on an average, nearly four out of ten women fell prey to the disease in India in 2020. Not just India, but it is one of the most common cancer types all around the world, leading to high mortality rates. 

As per doctors, high mortality rates with breast cancer in India could be related to late diagnosis, which is primarily due to lack of proper awareness and the absence of screening for the at-risk population. It becomes a huge risk if breast cancer is detected at a much later stage, giving major health related concerns.

Hence, it becomes extremely important to raise awareness on the disease and promote the benefits of early detection. Early detection significantly increases the chances of timely diagnosis and reduces the risk of death. It gives us all the more reason to come together and promote breast cancer awareness month 2022 in our own little ways.

Promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Organize A Walk/Run Event To Raise Awareness 

You can have several people participate in a breast cancer awareness walk/run event. You can organize this locally and subsequently put up posters on social media so that more and more people can join this noble cause. This will spark conversations and help raise awareness on breast cancer. Not only that but you can also set up a donation desk at the end of the track where people can donate to fund scientific research to cure breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Awareness At Workspace!

Since universally, the color pink is used to represent breast cancer, you can decorate your workspace or your respective workstation with pink balloons and ribbons. Some will understand and jump on the good cause, while it will make others wonder what it is about and start conversations around it. It will subsequently help you in raising awareness and spread more information on an important issue like breast cancer at length.

Promote Fundraisers For People Fighting Breast Cancer

Another helpful activity you can do is promote fundraisers started for breast cancer patients on crowdfunding platforms. There are various patients who are in dire need of urgent financial assistance. Spreading awareness about them will help the patients receive donations; subsequently they can receive much needed support and receive timely treatment. You can also donate to such fundraisers to contribute your bit to this cause and make a difference. Small charitable giving like such makes a huge impact on the patients’ lives. Not just that but you can share it on your social media handles and provide such fundraisers visibility on social media.
