Impact Guru School Champions Program
About the Program
Keeping up with tech-savy millennials, our Impact Guru @ School program allows school students to use their social media skills for social good. How? Simply, create a fundraiser and raise at least Rs 5,000 for an NGO of your choice and obtain a Certification of Achievement towards community service. The Impact Guru School Champion program has been designed as an extra-curricular program that complements students’ academic pursuits for children above the age of 13 studying in high school, i.e. below Grade 12. It gives them the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom and develop their communication skills in a social and engaging manner.
*If you are below 18, you should take parental permission to kickstart a fundraiser under this program.
Learning Beyond Classroom through Online Community Service
Character Building
- Learning about social issues: By participating in the program, students will learn about various social problems within the society. This will enable them to become conscientious leaders, who care about their community.
- Enhanced self-confidence: By leading projects and doing community service through the program, students start to realize their own strengths, which can be a great boost for their confidence. This attitude further stimulates their performance across academics and other pursuits.
- Realizing the importance of money: As students host a fundraiser and learn about how small amounts of donations can help nonprofits support various causes, they realize the significance of every Rupee. It encourages them to be more financially responsible.
- Develop a sense of responsibility: Working within the community and watching their efforts create significant impact within the community can instill a sense of responsibility and pride among them for doing their part in doing social good.
Building relevant skills
- Using Social Media for Social Good: With most children already familiar with social media platforms like Facebook & Twitter, they learn how to utilize those platforms to create awareness about social causes and generate support their cause.
- Communication Skills: As students start fundraisers and start communicating through different channels – for example, social media, emails and whatsapp, phone calls -- they start identifying what type of messages will prompt people to support their cause. By sharing personal videos, they can improve their public speaking and storytelling skills. It will give them the confidence to effectively communicate with others; be it at school, college or professional level.
Stand Out From The Crowd:
Certificate of Achievement: Once a student has achieved a minimum of Rs 5,000 on their fundraiser, they will receive a Certificate of Achievement that recognizes their efforts towards community service. Enhance bio / resume: A great way to boost personal bio / resume for college applications, whether planning to study in India or abroad.
