I never knew what life had in store for me. It was supposed to be easy, make a living for my family and work hard to provide for the future of my children. But, life doesn’t always go as planned. It began as a severe backache that radiated to my left arm, constant fatigue after walking just a few steps along with a few other discomforts.
I rushed to Shahlifeline Hospital and Heart Institute in Thane immediately. The doctors said the shocking words to me, “There is 90% of blockage in your heart, you have Ischemic heart disease and will need treatment at the earliest.”
What troubles Vinit?
Ischemic Heart Disease, also known as coronary heart disease or coronary artery disease. It is a condition where blood flow to the heart muscle is reduced or blocked, typically due to atherosclerosis (plaque buildup in the arteries), leading to a lack of oxygen and potentially causing angina (chest pain) or heart attacks.
What is the treatment required?
Coronary angiography is a diagnostic and potentially interventional procedure that uses X-rays and a special dye to visualize the coronary arteries and identify narrowings or blockages.
How it works: A thin tube called a catheter is threaded from an artery in the arm or groin to the heart, and a contrast dye is injected to make the arteries visible on X-ray images.
So far, we have managed to spend around 35 thousand rupees on tests and medicines, but the angioplasty procedure requires an additional lakhs of rupees which is far beyond our reach.
I have been the sole earning member of my family. My wife is a homemaker, and I have two children who are studying as well as an 86-year-old mother who await my healing. With limited income from my small brokerage business, we have already sold and pledged assets to keep going, but the mounting expenses are overwhelming.
My only wish after recovery is to regain my strength, take up a full-time job, and provide for my family again. I want to see my children finish their education and stand on their own feet.
