Hi, I am Kumar, Kaine Pozhilan’s father.

Can you imagine how it feels to not hear a single word, not even a whisper, not your parents’ voices, not your friends’ laughter, especially at such a young age?

Our sweet 2-year-old son is growing up in a world of absolute silence. He has been diagnosed with bilateral cochlear cell dysfunction, meaning he has complete hearing loss (100%) in both ears. His cochlear cells are non-functional, resulting in no hearing ability. He has never heard a single sound. Because of this profound deafness, he has also been unable to develop speech. As parents, it is devastating to watch him struggle to communicate and interact, knowing a vital piece of his development is missing. We are desperately fighting to give him the gift of hearing and a chance at a normal life.

Doctors have advised that an urgent Cochlear Implant surgery is the only way to give our son the ability to hear.

This sophisticated surgery, followed by essential speech and auditory therapy, can open his world to sound, allowing him to slowly learn to speak his first words and catch up on critical developmental milestones. Time is of the essence; the earlier the implant is done, the greater his chances of developing age-appropriate speech and language skills.
