Hi, I am Dinesh, Suyog’s father.
My son has always been a bright and talented boy. He pursued a course in animation and was working towards his postgraduate degree in BA. Life was going smoothly, and like any father, I had dreams for his future. But sometimes, life takes a turn you never expect.
It all started with a simple skin issue. To treat it, he took Ayurvedic medicines. But soon, he started having frequent loose motions. We thought it would pass, but instead, it only got worse. Before we could fully understand what was happening, it led to a liver infection. And then his liver had failed.
Now, my son is admitted to Fortis Hospital, Mulund, Mumbai. The only thing that can save him is a liver transplant.
What is liver failure?
- Liver failure occurs when the liver loses its ability to function properly, which can be life-threatening.
- It can happen suddenly (acute liver failure) due to infections, drug reactions, or toxins, or gradually (chronic liver failure) due to long-term diseases like hepatitis or cirrhosis.
- Common symptoms include jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), swelling in the abdomen, confusion, nausea, and extreme fatigue.
- Causes include viral infections (hepatitis), excessive alcohol use, fatty liver disease, and reactions to medications.
- Treatment depends on the cause, but in severe cases, a liver transplant is the only option for survival.
