Help Me Save My Angel Siya from a Rare Disease – A Father’s Appeal
My name is Ronak, and I’m the proud father of a bright, cheerful little girl named Siya. She’s just 7 months old—but she’s already the light of our lives. Her laughter fills our home, her curiosity brings joy to every day, and her tiny arms around my neck remind me what love truly means.
But today, our little world has been shaken. Siya has been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1—a rare and serious genetic disorder that weakens the muscles used for movement, swallowing, and eventually even breathing.
What is SMA Type 1?
SMA Type 1 affects children early in life. It gradually robs them of their ability to sit, stand, walk, and eventually perform basic activities independently. Watching our little one struggle to do what other children her age do so naturally is heartbreaking. SMA worsens over time - Over time, SMA results in fatality
Without treatment, SMA worsens over time. But we are holding on to hope.
There Is a Life-Saving Treatment: Zolgensma
The only approved one-time gene therapy that can stop the progression of SMA is called Zolgensma. It works by replacing the faulty gene that causes this disease. This therapy gives children like Siya a real chance at life—a life where she can play, run, and grow without fear.
But the challenge is its cost. Zolgensma is one of the most expensive drugs in the world, priced at ₹9 Crore.
