Just a few weeks ago, Shaurya, my son, was running through our fields, laughing, arguing with me about studies, dreaming like any other 15-year-old boy. Today, I sit beside his hospital bed and watch machines do the work his body cannot.

Seeing my son unable to move, unable to speak, struggling just to breathe, breaks me in ways I never knew were possible. Guillain-Barré Syndrome came without warning and took away his strength overnight. I am a farmer, used to hard days and long waits, but nothing prepares you to see your child like this, depending on machines to stay alive.

Shaurya is still in the ICU at KEM Hospital, Pune, fighting silently. The doctors say physiotherapy, medicines, IVIG treatment and ventilator support can bring him back, but the road is long and uncertain.

Sometimes he opens his eyes and looks at me, and in that look I see fear, pain, and also hope. Shaurya has always said he wants to finish his studies and support our family, and that thought keeps me steady. I just want him to get better step by step, to breathe on his own, to move again, to go back to school.

शौर्य अजूनही पुण्यातील केईएम रुग्णालयाच्या आयसीयूमध्ये आहे, शांतपणे लढत आहे. डॉक्टर म्हणतात की फिजिओथेरपी, औषधे, आयव्हीआयजी उपचार आणि व्हेंटिलेटरच्या सहाय्याने त्याला बरे करता येईल, पण हा मार्ग खूप लांब आणि अनिश्चित आहे.

कधीकधी तो डोळे उघडतो आणि माझ्याकडे पाहतो, आणि त्या नजरेत मला भीती, वेदना आणि आशाही दिसते. शौर्य नेहमी म्हणतो की त्याला त्याचे शिक्षण पूर्ण करून आमच्या कुटुंबाला आधार द्यायचा आहे, आणि हा विचारच मला धीर देतो. मला फक्त एवढेच हवे आहे की तो हळूहळू बरा व्हावा, स्वतःहून श्वास घेऊ लागावा, पुन्हा हलू-फिरू लागावा, आणि शाळेत परत जावा.
