My mother, Hashi Chakraborty, is the strongest person I know. At 63, she has spent her entire life caring for our family as a housewife. She never asked for much just the happiness of seeing her family safe and healthy.
But now, her health and life has come to face a tough challenge…
Last year, during a surgery for hernia, doctors discovered something terrifying, my mother has an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, a life-threatening condition where the main artery in her abdomen has weakened and could rupture at any moment.
Since then, life has been a constant hospital visit after another. My mother has already fought cancer. She has undergone surgery for a severe hernia and another procedure for a kidney infection. Watching her go through so much pain has been heartbreaking.
Recently, her pain became unbearable. She now suffers from extreme pain in her lower abdomen that shoots to her back. Doctors have warned us that she needs an urgent EVAR procedure with multiple stents to repair the weakened artery before it ruptures.
The cost of this life-saving surgery comes up to lakhs of rupees. As the only earning member of our family, I have done everything I possibly could even using up our savings. We sold personal jewellery. We have already spent more than ₹15 lakhs on her treatments over the years. But today, I have reached a point where I simply cannot manage the remaining expenses alone.
My mother has always been the heart of our home. She is the person who stayed up all night when I was sick, who sacrificed her own needs so I could have a better future. All I want is the chance to see her healthy again.
