Sangana Sai Satya Neha Shree’s parents dreamed of a future where their daughter would not face the same struggles they had. When they welcomed their precious baby girl into the world just over a year ago, their hearts overflowed with joy and hope. For a brief, beautiful time, their home was filled with laughter and dreams of a brighter tomorrow.
But that happiness soon gave way to a heavy silence, a silence all too familiar to her parents, Sangana Venkata Lakshmi and Sangana Satya Venkata Padmanabham. Both of them have lived their entire lives in a world without sound, depending on sign language to communicate and connect with others. More than anything, they wished for their little girl to have a different fate, a world filled with the music of laughter, the sound of her own voice, and the simple joys that hearing brings.
Then, when Sangana Sai Satya Neha Shree was just 1 year and 5 months old, their world changed again. Doctors performed a BERA (Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry) test and delivered heartbreaking news: their daughter has 88% hearing loss. The dreams her parents held for her seemed to crumble in that moment.
But there is hope. At Dr Rao's ENT Super Speciality International Hospital in Hyderabad, doctors have recommended cochlear implants for both ears, along with at least two years of speech therapy. This life-changing procedure could open up a whole new world for little Neha Shree, a world filled with sound.
Yet, this hope comes with a daunting price. Neha Shree’s parents survive on a government pension, with no extra income to cover such immense medical expenses. Every day, they worry about how they will afford the treatment that could give their daughter the gift of sound, a chance they themselves never had.
Note: A cochlear implant will help the baby girl hear by sending sound signals directly to her brain, bypassing the damaged parts of her ear. Unlike hearing aids, it doesn’t just make sounds louder; it actually gives her the ability to hear. This can help her learn to speak and connect with the world around her.
