My name is Srikanth, and I have never felt fear the way I did when I saw my father, Ramulu Manne, struggling for every single breath. He has always been the strongest man I know, the one who carried our family on his shoulders without complaint, even while living with diabetes and joint pain for years.

In November 2025, everything collapsed at once. What began as pneumonia turned into ARDS and sepsis, and suddenly, my father was in the ICU, sedated, intubated, fighting a battle none of us were prepared for. Machines breathed for him, blood was transfused to keep him alive, and tubes and wires surrounded the man who once worked tirelessly with his own hands. He was swollen with pain, fevered, unable to speak, his body exhausted from infection, weak kidneys, and years of silent struggle. Watching him suffer through ventilation, a tracheostomy, and endless procedures broke something inside me, but he kept holding on.

Today, he is home, and while doctors say he is stable, the fight is far from over. He can breathe only with oxygen support, his strength is fragile, and every step requires care, monitoring, and physiotherapy.

The tracheostomy has closed, but the scars, physical and emotional, remain. My father’s only dream now is simple and heartbreaking: to breathe freely again, to stand on his own, to return to work if his body allows, to clear the debts this illness has forced upon us, and to live with dignity and peace. He urgently needs ongoing treatment, home oxygen, nutrition, and close medical follow-ups to prevent his condition from worsening again.
