Latest Update

Dear Donors,

Ramapraba was diagnosed with a large left MCA ischemic stroke with midline shift and mild herniation. She underwent thrombolysis to address the clot on the same day. She is currently semi-conscious, under ICU observation, and requires continued monitoring for brain swelling and neurological function. She needs strict inpatient care, followed by long-term physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

The family has exhausted insurance and gold assets, lives in a rented house, and requires financial assistance to continue treatment. Total expenses have crossed ₹30 lakhs, with an additional requirement of a set of lakhs for ongoing care.

Your continued support is important for her recovery. Keep sharing and donating as much as you can.

Story

I woke up expecting an ordinary morning. My mother, Ramapraba, asked if I wanted tea. Her voice was light, warm, the way it’s always been. Within hours everything was unrecognizable.

She collapsed suddenly. We rushed her to Dr. Rela Institute and Medical Center in Chennai, trying to stay hopeful. The diagnosis hit hard. A massive left middle cerebral artery stroke. Blood flow to a large area of her brain had stopped, leaving her unable to move the right side of her body. Her speech faded. Her eyes wandered as if she couldn’t find her way back to us.

Scans showed swelling inside her skull, pushing the brain off center. Doctors called it a midline shift with mild herniation. I watched them explain it, but all I saw was my mother lying there with tubes and wires, fighting quietly.

The treatment began with thrombolysis to dissolve the clot. It helped stabilize the damage, but the swelling still demanded constant monitoring. Days in the ICU became a cycle of tiny gains and painful setbacks. Some mornings she tried to speak. Other days her silence filled the room.

After weeks of treatment, she was discharged. We thought we were finally turning a corner. Then her condition worsened again. We admitted her to Apollo Hospital last week. Thankfully, her vitals are now stable, and the doctors say she’s improving. She’s semi-conscious, responding slowly, and still under intensive observation. Recovery will require continued hospital care, therapy, and long-term support.

She’s 56, a homemaker, and the heart of our small family. It’s just the 3 of us - my mother, my wife, and me. I’m the only one earning, working in the private sector. Our insurance is exhausted. We sold gold. We live in a rented house. The medical bills have crossed ₹30 lakhs, and the latest hospital charges add another ₹2.78 lakhs. Doctors anticipate that the road ahead may cost close to ₹40 lakhs more.

We’re doing everything we can, but each day gets heavier. And still, she tries. She opens her eyes when she hears our voices. She moves her left hand a little more than yesterday. She’s fighting for every inch of her life.

Her dream is simple. To come home. Sit on the terrace. Feel sunlight on her face. To heal, live normally, and share quiet mornings with us again.

Your help can push her closer to that day. Contributions cover ongoing treatment, ICU care, therapy, and daily medical requirements. Even sharing her story helps more than you think.

A note: You might see AI-generated or stock images used to represent her struggle. They’re not her actual photos, but they convey what countless families endure inside hospital walls. They’re a reminder of the pain behind every bill and every beep on a monitor.
