My name is Prajwal Abhay Gitay. I’m 24 years old, and I’m reaching out for help with my medical treatment.

A major electrical burn accident changed my life forever. Nearly half my body was affected. The burns were so severe that I ended up with serious heart complications, too. Every day since the accident has been a struggle.

Right after it happened, I went through multiple surgeries. The doctors had to perform debridement and groin flap surgeries to save both my hands. They also did skin grafts on both my feet. These were lifesaving procedures, but the burns left me with stiff joints in both hands. I can’t bend my fingers because the initial burns damaged my tendons.

Simple things most people do with ease, holding a spoon, buttoning a shirt, and writing, are difficult tasks for me right now. I want nothing more than to get my independence back.

My doctors say the next step is a bilateral hand tendon reconstruction surgery. They’ll use grafts from my own body, like TFL or plantaris grafts, once my joints are supple enough.

This surgery is my only hope to regain use of my hands and start rebuilding my life. The cost for this treatment, including hospital stay, operation theatre charges, tests, and medicines, runs in lakhs.

My family and I have already spent all our savings on my treatments so far. We have nothing left, and we simply can’t manage the cost of the urgent care I need now.
