As I sit beside my mother, Komera Dorka Kumari, in the hospital, holding her fragile hand, I struggle to accept how quickly life has changed. The woman who has always been our strength is now fighting for her life in the ICU.
My mother is 56 years old, a homemaker who dedicated her entire life to our family. She never asked for anything in return. She was my first teacher, my moral compass. The person who taught me kindness, sacrifice, and faith, just as much as my father did.
On 19 January 2026, our world shattered when she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, an aggressive blood cancer. She began suffering from swollen lymph nodes, dangerously fluctuating platelet levels, and severe blood cell complications.
Doctors immediately started aggressive chemotherapy, but after just three days, her condition worsened. The treatment had to be stopped, and she was rushed to the ICU.
The Hope Ahead
The doctors at Omega Cancer Hospital (Cancer Treatment Hospital)- Guntur have told us clearly: chemotherapy followed by a bone marrow transplant is her only chance to survive, and it is needed immediately!
We are a family of four. My father is a pastor, my elder brother works as a bank cashier, and I work in IT. Despite having three earning members, the cost of treatment is overwhelming.
We have already exhausted our personal savings and borrowed help from friends and relatives. So far, we have spent ₹1.5 lakh, but the road ahead is far longer and more expensive than we can manage alone.
What breaks my heart the most is knowing my mother still has dreams left to live. She often speaks about wanting to see both her sons get married, to hold her grandchildren, and to simply be there for her family. She deserves that future.
Today, I am asking for help as someone who cannot imagine a world without his mother.
