I am Milan, and until a month ago, our life was simple and full of small, ordinary joys. Jhilik is only 29. She is a homemaker, a mother to our two little daughters, and the heart of our home. Then one day, weakness turned into constant vomiting, food became impossible for her to keep down, and walking even short distances exhausted her. We thought it was something temporary. We never imagined the word cancer would enter our lives so suddenly. When the doctors told us it was stomach cancer, it felt like the ground disappeared beneath my feet.
Since then, I have watched my wife, who once managed everything with a quiet strength, struggle just to get through the day. Seeing her in pain and losing her strength is something no husband is ever prepared for.
Jhilik has already begun chemotherapy, and two sessions have been done. There are six more planned, followed by surgery. Each session takes a little more out of her, but she still looks at our daughters and finds the courage to keep going.

Her only wish after recovery is simple, to live a healthier life with our daughters and be there as they grow up. I am fighting alongside her, holding on to hope, because our family is not complete without her.

আমি মিলন, এবং এক মাস আগেও আমাদের জীবন ছিল সহজ ও ছোট ছোট সাধারণ আনন্দে ভরা। ঝিলিকের বয়স মাত্র ২৯ বছর। সে একজন গৃহিণী, আমাদের দুই ছোট্ট মেয়ের মা এবং আমাদের সংসারের প্রাণকেন্দ্র। তারপর একদিন, দুর্বলতা ক্রমাগত বমিতে পরিণত হলো, সে কোনো খাবারই পেটে রাখতে পারছিল না, আর অল্প পথ হাঁটলেই সে ক্লান্ত হয়ে পড়ত। আমরা ভেবেছিলাম এটা সাময়িক কিছু। আমরা কখনো কল্পনাও করিনি যে ক্যান্সার শব্দটি এত হঠাৎ করে আমাদের জীবনে প্রবেশ করবে। যখন ডাক্তাররা আমাদের বললেন যে এটা পাকস্থলীর ক্যান্সার, তখন মনে হলো আমার পায়ের নিচ থেকে মাটি সরে গেছে।
সেই থেকে আমি আমার স্ত্রীকে দেখছি, যে একসময় শান্ত শক্তি দিয়ে সবকিছু সামলাত, সে এখন শুধু দিনটি পার করার জন্যই সংগ্রাম করছে। তাকে যন্ত্রণায় কাতরাতে এবং শক্তি হারাতে দেখাটা এমন এক পরিস্থিতি যার জন্য কোনো স্বামীই কখনো প্রস্তুত থাকে না।
ঝিলিকের কেমোথেরাপি ইতিমধ্যেই শুরু হয়েছে এবং দুটি সেশন সম্পন্ন হয়েছে। আরও ছয়টি সেশন নির্ধারিত আছে, যার পরে অস্ত্রোপচার করা হবে। প্রতিটি সেশন তার কাছ থেকে একটু একটু করে শক্তি কেড়ে নিচ্ছে, কিন্তু সে এখনও আমাদের মেয়েদের দিকে তাকিয়ে এগিয়ে যাওয়ার সাহস খুঁজে পায়।
দয়া করে আমার স্ত্রীর জীবন বাঁচান
কিছুদিন সে খেতে পারে না, কিছু দিন সে বেশিক্ষণ বসতেও পারে না, কিন্তু সে কখনো অভিযোগ করে না। সুস্থ হওয়ার পর তার একমাত্র ইচ্ছা খুব সাধারণ, আমাদের মেয়েদের সাথে একটি সুস্থ জীবন কাটানো এবং তাদের বড় হওয়া পর্যন্ত পাশে থাকা। তার স্বামী হিসেবে আমি শুধু এটাই চাই যে, সে আবার ব্যথা ছাড়া হাসুক, স্বাধীনভাবে হাঁটুক এবং আমাদের সন্তানেরা নির্ভয়ে তাদের মায়ের কোলে ছুটে আসুক। আমি তার পাশে থেকে আশার আলো ধরে লড়াই করে যাচ্ছি, কারণ তাকে ছাড়া আমাদের পরিবার অসম্পূর্ণ।তার চিকিৎসার খরচ লাখ লাখ টাকায় পৌঁছেছে, এবং আমার পরিবার ও আমি আমার স্ত্রীর চিকিৎসার জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় অর্থ জোগাড় করার জন্য সম্ভাব্য সবরকম চেষ্টা করেছি, কিন্তু আমরা ব্যর্থ হচ্ছি।
