Becoming a father was the most beautiful moment of my life, nothing could match the happiness of holding my baby girl, Ezlin, for the first time. But that joy was short-lived.

When my baby girl was born, she was suffering from jaundice. We thought that it would pass, which usually goes away after one week, but in her case, it didn’t, and it affected the liver.

Now my baby girl, Ezlin, just 8 months old, is suffering from biliary atresia, a severe, rare congenital liver disease in infants where the bile ducts are blocked or absent, preventing bile from flowing from the liver to the intestines, causing liver damage and potentially fatal cirrhosis.

Doctors have said that only a life-saving liver transplant can save my Ezlin’s life.

ഒരു അച്ഛനാകുക എന്നത് എന്റെ ജീവിതത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും മനോഹരമായ നിമിഷമായിരുന്നു, എന്റെ പെൺകുഞ്ഞ് എസ്ലിനെ ആദ്യമായി കൈയിലെടുക്കുമ്പോഴുള്ള സന്തോഷത്തിന് തുല്യമായി മറ്റൊന്നില്ല. പക്ഷേ ആ സന്തോഷം അധികനാളത്തേക്കല്ലായിരുന്നു.

ഇപ്പോൾ വെറും 8 മാസം പ്രായമുള്ള എന്റെ പെൺകുഞ്ഞ് എസ്ലിൻ ബിലിയറി അട്രീസിയ എന്ന ഗുരുതരവും അപൂർവവുമായ ഒരു ജന്മനാ ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന കരൾ രോഗത്താൽ കഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നു. പിത്തരസം നാളങ്ങൾ അടഞ്ഞുപോകുകയോ ഇല്ലാതാകുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്നതിനാൽ കരളിൽ നിന്ന് കുടലിലേക്ക് പിത്തരസം ഒഴുകുന്നത് തടയുകയും കരളിന് കേടുപാടുകൾ സംഭവിക്കുകയും മാരകമായ സിറോസിസിന് കാരണമാവുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
