‘The feeling of waiting outside the ICU, with the fear and uncertainty of what’s going to happen next, is truly frightening.’
My name is Vijaya Mishra. My mother, Mrs Sudha Mishra, is currently in critical condition. She is admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Aditya Hospital, Jabalpur. She has undergone aneurysm clipping surgery, followed by an emergency decompressive craniectomy due to severe brain swelling.
Later, she also required ventilator support, an external ventricular drain (EVD) for hydrocephalus, and intensive monitoring. Although there are occasional signs such as eye opening and limb movements, she remains neurologically compromised and dependent on critical care support.
My mother was diagnosed with a ruptured right middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysm leading to subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) on 19th November 2025. This was complicated by acute brain oedema, hydrocephalus, intracranial bleeding, infarcts, and a massive cardiac event (acute coronary syndrome).
She suffers from severe symptoms, including headache, neurological deterioration, brain swelling, and increased intracranial pressure. She also faces cardiac instability, low haemoglobin levels, and blood pressure fluctuations.
As a 65-year-old homemaker, my mother has always prioritised family above all else. Her kind, loving, nurturing behaviour always brings joy into everyone’s life. Today, our whole family is in pain seeing her unconscious, knowing what a lovely human being she is.

My mother’s treatment costs many lakhs—more than we anticipated. So far, our family has managed expenses through personal savings and borrowing from relatives and well-wishers. However, we require additional funds to help my mother receive the urgent treatment she needs.
The doctors have advised that continued ICU care is critical and time-sensitive. Any interruption in treatment may significantly reduce her chances of recovery. Immediate funds are urgently required to sustain life-saving care and support further neurological recovery.
Please step forward to help my mother return home from the ICU.
