My name is Tejashri, and today my heart feels heavier than ever. My brother Ajinkya has always been my pillar, the one who smiled even when life tested him the hardest. In 2012, when he went through his first kidney transplant, we thought the worst was behind us. We believed he would finally live the life he always deserved.
But more than a decade later, that kidney is failing him. His body is exhausted, and so is his spirit, though he still tries to hide it behind a brave face for us. Ajinkya has been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease, and things we take for granted, like walking without pain, eating without fear, or just sleeping peacefully.
Now, the only way to give him another chance is a second kidney transplant. It feels devastating that he has to fight this battle all over again, but I know my brother, he wants to live, he wants to fight, and he wants to stay with us.
