They say life can change in a moment. For us, that moment came on the night of June 7th. My husband, Shivakumar, 46 years old, suddenly complained of a terrible headache, Fever, seizures, and Vomiting. His eyes wouldn't open. His hand and leg stopped moving completely. We thought it was paralysis, and we were terrified. We kept hoping it would pass, but things only got worse. We rushed him to the hospital.
Doctors told us it is a brain stroke, which means bleeding inside the brain. He underwent an urgent brain surgery to survive.
Currently, his treatment is being undergone at Carewell Hospital, Bengaluru, where he is on ventilator support in the ICU, which is crucial for his survival to recover from internal brain injury.
What is a brain stroke?
- Brain stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain is blocked or reduced.
- It can be caused by a clot (ischemic stroke) or bleeding (hemorrhagic stroke).
- Common symptoms include sudden weakness, slurred speech, and confusion.
- Immediate treatment is crucial to prevent brain damage or death.
- Recovery depends on the severity and timely medical intervention.
