I would never have imagined that my father would one day need a tube to consume food.
Rajeev, my father was the pillar of our family, the person who cared for all of us.
Then, four months ago, everything changed. What began as a heart attack quickly turned into a nightmare when my father suffered a severe brain stroke. It left our family devastated.
Although doctors were able to treat his heart, the stroke left him fighting a much bigger battle. He is now lying in a hospital bed, unable to speak, eat, or breathe on his own.
He needed a tracheostomy to help him breathe and is being fed through a tube because he cannot swallow safely. He developed a multidrug-resistant urinary tract infection, recurring fevers, liver and kidney complications, and severe weakness after months of hospitalization.
Everyday is another fight for him.
Doctors continue to monitor his heart, brain, kidneys, liver, and lungs around the clock. He needs ICU care, powerful intravenous antibiotics, tracheostomy care, physiotherapy, speech therapy, and long-term rehabilitation just to give him a chance of recovery.

My father was always the one taking care of us. Today, we are doing everything we can to take care of him. To stay by his side, I had to step away from work. My brother's part-time income is not enough to support the family, and with my father unable to work, we no longer have a stable source of income.
We have already spent more than ₹15 lakh, using our savings to continue his treatment. Today, we are struggling to meet the growing medical expenses, but stopping his treatment is simply not an option.
My only wish is to see my father come home.
