Riyana Vora’s Inspiring Initiative
Riyana Vora, a 16-year-old student at GEMS Wellington International School in Dubai, UAE, is making a remarkable impact with her inspiring initiative, The Tiny Footprints.

Her mission is simple yet powerful: to improve the lives of underprivileged mothers and their newborns while promoting a healthier planet. Riyana’s work is a testament to how small, compassionate efforts can spark meaningful change. She has not only addressed critical challenges faced by underprivileged families but has also inspired others to rethink their contributions to society.
Tackling Two Major Issues: Sustainability and Accessibility
Every year, over 2 million babies are born into extreme poverty, with many mothers unable to meet their baby’s basic needs. Understanding the struggles of underprivileged mothers, Riyana has focused on creating eco-freindly diapering solutions. Her collaboration with Dumbledo in Mumbai, and her dedication have facilitated the distribution of Dumbledo Reusable Diapers. These diapers are affordable and reusable over 300 times, significantly reducing solid waste and ensuring comfort for babies. Her initiative seeks to empower these mothers, giving them the resources to care for their children with dignity and love while protecting the planet.
The Tiny Footprints initiative will begin in Mumbai and expand across other cities in India, empowering underprivileged mothers with Eco-Friendly diapering solutions.
Riyana’s Vision
Driven by empathy and a passion for science and biotechnology, Riyana is dedicated to advancing reusable absorbent hygiene products (AHPs), including baby diapers and feminine protection pads, with the ultimate goal of achieving a circular economy. By focusing on sustainable alternatives, Riyana aims to revolutionize the hygiene industry through innovative, eco-friendly solutions that reduce environmental impact while ensuring comfort and effectiveness.
Disposable diapers pose a significant waste challenge for communities and governments worldwide. However, with growing awareness of plastic pollution and its impact on climate change, reusable diapers are experiencing a resurgence in many developed countries.
Through The Tiny Footprints Initiative, Riyana introduces Dumbledo Reusable Diapers—a biotechnology-driven, eco-friendly alternative designed to be gentle on babies, minimize solid waste, and reduce the overall carbon footprint.

Did You Know? The Reality of Disposable Diapers
1. Environmental Waste: Over 1.5 million disposable diapers are discarded every minute globally, contributing significantly to plastic waste.
2. Oil Consumption: The industry uses more than 400 million barrels of crude oil annually, impacting the planet's resources.
3. Cost Burden: A baby uses 4,000–6,000 diapers before being potty trained, which can cost families a small fortune.
4. Recycling Challenges: Disposable diapers are almost impossible to recycle due to mixed materials.
5. Health Risks: Many disposable diapers expose babies to harmful chemicals, risking rashes and allergies.

The Numbers That Matter
Here’s how reusable cloth diapers, like Dumbledo’s, make a difference:
Cost of Disposable Diapers (Newborn Stage: 0-6 months)
* A newborn needs 8-12 diapers per day → 1,440 to 2,160 diapers in 6 months
* Cost per disposable diaper: ₹8 to ₹10
* Total cost: ₹11,520 to ₹17,280 (USD 135-200)

Cost of Dumbledo Cloth Diapers (Newborn Stage: 0-6 months)
* Cloth diapers required: 8 to 12 pieces
* Cost: ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 (one-time purchase)
Savings for Families per Child
* For 8 diapers: ₹11,520 - ₹1,000 = ₹10,520 (USD 120) Saved
* For 12 diapers: ₹17,280 - ₹1,500 = ₹15,780 (USD 185) Saved
Conclusion: Dumbledo cloth diapers offer significant savings while being eco-friendly and reusable!
