Please Help Me Save My Mother, Ratna Maiti

My name is Suparna Maiti, and I am reaching out with a broken heart to seek urgent help for my beloved mother, Ratna Maiti (73 years old), who is fighting for her life after a sudden and severe medical emergency.

On 17th January 2026, our world collapsed in a matter of moments when my mother suddenly lost consciousness at home. She was immediately rushed to Eskag Sanjeevani Hospital, Baranagar. Watching her lie unconscious and unresponsive was the most terrifying experience of my life. At her age, sudden loss of consciousness is extremely dangerous, and doctors had to act quickly to stabilize her.

My mother has been battling multiple serious health conditions for several years. In 2023, she suffered a major brain stroke, which left her partially paralysed on the left side. Despite this, she has shown incredible strength and courage every day. She also suffers from high blood pressure, hypothyroidism, and gall bladder stones, which have further weakened her health.

After emergency investigations including CT scan of the brain, blood tests, ECG, Doppler studies, and cardiac evaluations, doctors found several alarming complications:

• Severe inflammation
• Critically low sodium levels
• Signs of kidney stress
• Cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat)

Doctors have warned us that this irregular heartbeat can suddenly reduce blood flow to the brain, putting her at high risk of another stroke or even cardiac arrest. Specialists from cardiology and neurology are closely monitoring her condition. She has been advised 24-hour Holter (heart) monitoring, and based on the findings, doctors have said she may urgently require permanent pacemaker surgery to stabilize her heart rhythm and prevent life-threatening episodes.

At present, my mother is under continuous monitoring and intensive medical management. However, the cost of prolonged hospitalization, investigations, specialist consultations, medications, and the possible pacemaker surgery has become overwhelming.

So far, we have already spent nearly ₹30,00,000 on her treatment over the past few years, including stroke care, paralysis management, and the current emergency hospitalization. Our savings are completely exhausted.

We now urgently need ₹20,00,000 to continue her treatment and arrange the required cardiac procedure. This amount is far beyond our financial capacity.

As her daughter, it is unbearable to see my mother—who has already endured so much—fight once again for her life at this stage. She deserves care, dignity, and a chance to live safely, not constant pain and fear.

১৭ই জানুয়ারি ২০২৬, আমাদের জীবনে এক ভয়াবহ দিন হিসেবে নেমে আসে। সেদিন হঠাৎ করেই আমার মা বাড়িতে অজ্ঞান হয়ে পড়েন। সঙ্গে সঙ্গে তাঁকে এসক্যাগ সঞ্জীবনী হাসপাতাল, বরানগর-এ নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়। তাঁকে অচেতন ও সাড়া না দিতে দেখে আমার জীবনের সবচেয়ে ভয়ঙ্কর মুহূর্তের মুখোমুখি হতে হয়। এই বয়সে হঠাৎ অজ্ঞান হয়ে পড়া অত্যন্ত বিপজ্জনক, তাই ডাক্তারদের দ্রুত ব্যবস্থা নিতে হয়।

আমার মা বহু বছর ধরে একাধিক গুরুতর শারীরিক সমস্যার সঙ্গে লড়াই করে আসছেন। ২০২৩ সালে তিনি একটি বড় ব্রেন স্ট্রোকের শিকার হন, যার ফলে তাঁর শরীরের বাঁ দিক আংশিকভাবে পক্ষাঘাতগ্রস্ত হয়ে যায়। তবুও তিনি অসাধারণ সাহস ও মানসিক শক্তি নিয়ে প্রতিদিন লড়াই চালিয়ে গেছেন। এছাড়াও তিনি উচ্চ রক্তচাপ, হাইপোথাইরয়েডিজম এবং গল ব্লাডারের পাথর-এ ভুগছেন, যা তাঁর শরীরকে আরও দুর্বল করে তুলেছে।

জরুরি ভিত্তিতে করা বিভিন্ন পরীক্ষা— যেমন ব্রেনের সিটি স্ক্যান, রক্ত পরীক্ষা, ইসিজি, ডপলার ও কার্ডিয়াক মূল্যায়ন—এর পর ডাক্তাররা কয়েকটি গুরুতর সমস্যা শনাক্ত করেন:

ডাক্তাররা আমাদের জানিয়েছেন, এই অনিয়মিত হার্টবিট হঠাৎ করে মস্তিষ্কে রক্তপ্রবাহ কমিয়ে দিতে পারে, যার ফলে আবার স্ট্রোক বা এমনকি হার্ট অ্যাটাকের ঝুঁকি রয়েছে। কার্ডিওলজি ও নিউরোলজির বিশেষজ্ঞরা তাঁর অবস্থা নিবিড়ভাবে পর্যবেক্ষণ করছেন। তাঁকে ২৪ ঘণ্টার হোল্টার মনিটরিং করার পরামর্শ দেওয়া হয়েছে এবং রিপোর্ট অনুযায়ী জরুরি ভিত্তিতে স্থায়ী পেসমেকার বসানোর অস্ত্রোপচার প্রয়োজন হতে পারে বলে জানানো হয়েছে।

বর্তমানে আমার মা নিরবচ্ছিন্ন পর্যবেক্ষণ ও ইনটেনসিভ চিকিৎসার অধীনে রয়েছেন। কিন্তু দীর্ঘদিনের হাসপাতালে ভর্তি থাকা, একের পর এক পরীক্ষা, বিশেষজ্ঞ চিকিৎসা, ওষুধ এবং সম্ভাব্য পেসমেকার সার্জারির খরচ আমাদের পক্ষে বহন করা অসম্ভব হয়ে পড়েছে।

গত কয়েক বছরে স্ট্রোক চিকিৎসা, পক্ষাঘাত ব্যবস্থাপনা এবং বর্তমান জরুরি চিকিৎসা মিলিয়ে আমরা ইতিমধ্যেই প্রায় ₹৩০,০০,০০০ খরচ করেছি। আমাদের সমস্ত সঞ্চয় শেষ হয়ে গেছে।

এই মুহূর্তে মায়ের চিকিৎসা চালিয়ে যাওয়া ও প্রয়োজনীয় কার্ডিয়াক প্রক্রিয়ার জন্য আমাদের জরুরি ভিত্তিতে আরও ₹২০,০০,০০০ দরকার, যা আমাদের সাধ্যের বাইরে।
