My son Shiva is only 17 years old. Until recently, he was just like any other teenager, thinking about his future, talking about becoming a businessman, and dreaming of starting his own business one day. We never imagined that our lives would change so suddenly. He was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare condition where the body's immune system attacks the nerves. Within days, he lost movement throughout his body, and even the muscles that help him breathe stopped working. Seeing my child depend on a ventilator is something no mother is ever prepared for.

Shiva has already completed IVIG treatment and six Plasma Exchange sessions. While the doctors have finished the active treatment, his recovery is going to be long. He still needs ventilator support, intensive medical care, respiratory therapy, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation to regain his strength.

Every small movement now feels like a milestone for us. As a mother, I don't wish for anything extraordinary; I just want to see my son recover, stand on his own feet again, and get the chance to build the future he always dreamed of.

मेरा बेटा शिवा सिर्फ़ 17 साल का है। कुछ समय पहले तक, वह भी दूसरे टीनएजर्स की तरह ही था—अपने भविष्य के बारे में सोचता था, बिज़नेसमैन बनने की बातें करता था और एक दिन अपना खुद का बिज़नेस शुरू करने के सपने देखता था। हमने कभी नहीं सोचा था कि हमारी ज़िंदगी इतनी अचानक बदल जाएगी। उसे 'गिलेन-बैरे सिंड्रोम' (Guillain-Barré Syndrome) हुआ है, जो एक दुर्लभ बीमारी है जिसमें शरीर का इम्यून सिस्टम नसों पर हमला करता है। कुछ ही दिनों में, उसके पूरे शरीर की हलचल बंद हो गई, और यहाँ तक कि सांस लेने में मदद करने वाली मांसपेशियां भी काम करना बंद कर गईं। अपने बच्चे को वेंटिलेटर पर निर्भर देखना कुछ ऐसा है जिसके लिए कोई भी माँ कभी तैयार नहीं होती।

शिवा का IVIG ट्रीटमेंट और छह प्लाज़्मा एक्सचेंज सेशन पूरे हो चुके हैं। हालाँकि डॉक्टर एक्टिव ट्रीटमेंट पूरा कर चुके हैं, लेकिन उसके ठीक होने में लंबा समय लगेगा। उसे अभी भी वेंटिलेटर सपोर्ट, गहन चिकित्सा देखभाल (intensive medical care), रेस्पिरेटरी थेरेपी, फिजियोथेरेपी और ताकत वापस पाने के लिए रिहैबिलिटेशन की ज़रूरत है।

अब हर छोटी सी हलचल हमारे लिए एक बड़ी उपलब्धि (माइलस्टोन) जैसी लगती है। एक माँ के तौर पर, मैं कोई असाधारण चीज़ नहीं चाहती; मैं बस अपने बेटे को ठीक होते, फिर से अपने पैरों पर खड़े होते और उस भविष्य को बनाने का मौका पाते देखना चाहती हूँ जिसका उसने हमेशा सपना देखा था।
