Help Shama Bakshi Rebuild Her Life After a Devastating Brain Injury
My name is Swati Prashar, and I am raising funds for my cousin sister, Shama Bakshi, who is courageously recovering from a Severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with Skull Fracture and Multiple Brain Hemorrhages following a devastating road accident on 24 May 2025. Shama is 42 years old and was a dedicated school teacher, as well as the primary earning member of her family before the accident.
She has undergone multiple life-saving surgeries and is now receiving full-time nursing care and physiotherapy at home after being discharged from the hospital. While her surgeries and hospital treatment were covered under the ECHS medical scheme, the ongoing expenses for professional nursing care, caregivers, nutrition, and rehabilitation are not covered. Our family has already spent ₹6,00,000, and we are now seeking to raise ₹6,00,000 to continue providing the care she needs. As her cousin, I am reaching out with hope, asking for your support in helping Shama continue her journey toward recovery.
Shama devoted her life to educating children and caring for her family before a single moment changed everything.
Before the accident, Shama was an independent, compassionate teacher who loved helping her students learn and grow. She was also the pillar of support for her elderly parents, both over the age of 70. Today, life looks very different. The accident caused extensive damage to the left side of her brain, affecting her speech, movement, and independence. Despite these immense challenges, our family continues to believe in her strength and celebrates every small sign of progress as a meaningful step forward.
Recovery from a severe brain injury is a long journey that requires continuous care, patience, and specialized support.
After spending two months in the hospital, including one month in the ICU and prolonged intensive treatment, Shama is now continuing her recovery at home. She is unable to speak, walk independently, or perform daily activities without assistance. She requires full-time nursing care, physiotherapy, nutritional support, and constant supervision. Every day of consistent care gives her another opportunity to improve her awareness, mobility, and overall quality of life.
Current Treatment and Home Care Plan
- Round-the-clock professional nursing care
- Daily physiotherapy and rehabilitation sessions
- Home caregiver assistance for all daily activities
- Nutritional support and medical monitoring
- Regular follow-up consultations with specialists
- Essential medicines and supportive medical care
- Long-term rehabilitation focused on improving independence
Although medical treatment was covered, the ongoing cost of home nursing has become an overwhelming responsibility for our family.
Thanks to the ECHS medical scheme, Shama's surgeries and hospitalization were covered. However, professional nursing care, caregiver support, rehabilitation, and home-based recovery expenses are not included. Her elderly parents are physically unable to provide the level of care she now requires, making trained nursing support absolutely essential. The funds raised through this campaign will be used entirely to ensure that Shama continues receiving uninterrupted nursing care and rehabilitation at home.
Your support can help Shama continue rebuilding her life with dignity and hope.
Every contribution directly supports the care that allows Shama to continue her recovery journey. Every physiotherapy session, every day of nursing support, and every act of kindness brings her one step closer to greater independence. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your family, friends, colleagues, and social circles will help us reach more compassionate people who can become part of her recovery story.
Together, we can help Shama continue moving forward—one step, one day, and one milestone at a time.
Our family sincerely appreciates everyone who takes the time to read Shama's story. Your generosity, encouragement, and support provide more than financial assistance—they give our family the confidence to continue providing her with the dedicated care she deserves. Every donation and every share helps us continue this journey with hope and strengthens our belief that recovery is built one day at a time.

The goal amount of the campaign may be higher than the attached estimates to address and aid the post-hospitalization expenses/contingencies including but not limited to prolonged medication, diagnostics, rehabilitation therapies, and follow-up doctor visits/consultations which vary from disease to disease.
