Fighting A Life-Threatening Genetic Disease

My name is Kiran K, and I am reaching out to you with an urgent plea to help save my life. I am battling a rare, severe, and progressive genetic disorder called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). I am currently undergoing specialized medical treatment under expert care at SPARSH Hospital, Hennur Road, Bengaluru.

This degenerative disease causes muscular weakness and may be life-threatening. Without immediate intervention, SMA progressively destroys motor nerve cells, taking away physical capabilities. ಈ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಯಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಸ್ನಾಯುಗಳು ದುರ್ಬಲವಾಗುತ್ತಿವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಇದು ಜೀವಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪಾಯಕಾರಿಯಾಗಬಹುದು. ತಕ್ಷಣದ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯಿಲ್ಲದೆ, SMA ಕ್ರಮೇಣ ನರಕೋಶಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾನಿಗೊಳಿಸಿ ದೇಹದ ಚಲನ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕಸಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. ನನ್ನ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣದಲ್ಲಿಡಲು ತಜ್ಞರ ಆರೈಕೆ, ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ BiPAP ಉಸಿರಾಟದ ಸಹಾಯ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ತೊಂದರೆಗಳ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ.

ನನ್ನ ಆರೋಗ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸುಧಾರಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ತಮ ಜೀವನಮಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಲು ರಿಸ್ಡಿಪ್ಲಾಮ್ (Risdiplam) ಎಂಬ ವಿಶೇಷ ಔಷಧಿಯ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದೆ. ಈ ಔಷಧಿಯೇ ನನ್ನ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಯ ಪ್ರಗತಿಯನ್ನು ನಿಧಾನಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಆಶಾಕಿರಣವಾಗಿದೆ.

ಆದರೆ, ಈ ಅಪರೂಪದ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಯ ವಿರುದ್ಧದ ಹೋರಾಟ ಭಾರೀ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಹೊರೆ ತಂದಿದೆ. ಈ ಜೀವ ರಕ್ಷಕ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗೆ ಸುಮಾರು ₹50,00,000 (50 ಲಕ್ಷ ರೂಪಾಯಿ) ವೆಚ್ಚವಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.

ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಕುಟುಂಬವಾದ ನಮಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮೊತ್ತವನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುವುದು ಅಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಪನ್ಮೂಲಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿದ್ದರೂ, ಈ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯ ವೆಚ್ಚ ನಮ್ಮ ಕೈಗೆಟುಕದಂತಾಗಿದೆ. ಈಗ ನಾವು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿಲುಕಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಈ ಹೋರಾಟವನ್ನು ಒಬ್ಬರೇ ಎದುರಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ.
