“I never imagined a day would come when my brother would be fighting for his life in a hospital bed, and I would be the one telling his story.”
My name is Pratulendra, and I’m here for my elder brother, Achalendra, 28 years old and has been working as a Senior Security Executive at Akasa Air for the past 2 years. He’s a vibrant and multi-talented individual who loves playing musical instruments, enjoys various sports, and is passionate about travelling and trying local cuisines. He’s someone who truly lives life with energy and curiosity.
He is currently in Apollo Medics Super Speciality Hospital, Lucknow, battling a severe brain haemorrhage. On June 13th, everything changed for our family. A sudden headache and unconsciousness sent him to the emergency room, where scans revealed a brain haemorrhage with dangerous swelling and a midline shift, meaning his brain had been pushed from its normal position.
Doctors had no choice but to perform an emergency Decompressive Craniectomy. They had to remove part of his skull to relieve the pressure and save his life. Since then, he has been in the ICU. He is still unconscious and requires a long term ICU care and treatment for further stabilization.
Achalendra was the only earning member of our family. He always said, “I want to make life easier for Maa and Papa.” That’s what drove him, taking care of our parents, no matter what. Now, it feels like the weight of the world has fallen on us. With just 3 of us in the family, our ageing parents and I, we’ve been scraping through each day with help from friends, well-wishers, and whatever little savings we had. But the medical bills are overwhelming.
We’ve already spent over 31 lakhs. The doctors estimate that the next phases: ICU stay, surgeries, and rehabilitation, will need at least a set of lakhs more. Every day is a new fight: managing his treatments, keeping up with hospital expenses, and holding our family together emotionally and financially.

डॉक्टरों के पास आपातकालीन डिकम्प्रेसिव क्रेनिएक्टोमी करने के अलावा कोई विकल्प नहीं था। दबाव कम करने और उनकी जान बचाने के लिए उन्हें खोपड़ी का एक हिस्सा निकालना पड़ा। तब से, वह आईसीयू में मैकेनिकल वेंटिलेटर पर हैं। वह अभी भी अपने शरीर के बाएँ हिस्से को हिला नहीं पा रहे हैं, और डॉक्टरों ने उन्हें आगे के लंबे समय तक एक ट्यूब के ज़रिए साँस लेने में मदद करने के लिए ट्रेकियोस्टोमी की योजना बनाई है।
