Last month, my father, Venkata Ramanaiah, suffered a severe brain haemorrhage. Doctors told us there are blood clots in his brain, and since that day, he has been lying in the ICU, connected to machines at Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Nellore.

Most of the time, he barely opens his eyes. I sit next to his bed and talk to him, hoping he can hear my voice somehow. The man who always took care of our family is now fighting the hardest battle of his life, and all we can do is stand there feeling helpless.

The doctors say his recovery will take time. He needs to stay in the ICU for longer and remain on ventilator support while the treatment continues. The hospital bills and medicines are becoming harder for us to manage, but right now, all that matters to me is seeing my father get another chance at life.
