My name is Tushar. My son is not even 2 years old yet, he will turn 2 on 28th April. But in these short years, he has already fought more than most do in a lifetime.
It all started at the end of January when my son had a very high fever, I noticed he was getting weaker. My family and I rushed him to the hospital, where we did some tests.
His blood reports showed his platelet count was very low. Platelets help the blood to clot, and when they drop too much, even a small injury can be dangerous. His white blood cells, which fight infections, were also very low. We were scared, but we didn’t imagine how serious it would be.
He was admitted to the hospital on 31st January. On 6th February, we took him home. But after a Bone marrow test (a special test where doctors check the soft part inside bones that makes blood), we found out that our dear son has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (blood cancer).
I cannot explain the feeling. My heart dropped. My legs shook. I couldn’t even speak.
One night, as he lay in his hospital bed holding my finger, I whispered, “You’re stronger, my boy. And Papa is proud of you.”
The doctors said he needs chemotherapy - strong medicines that fight cancer inside the blood. It’s a painful and tiring process. He has already gone through 1 round. 5 more are left. Right now, he’s been back in the NewEra Hospital (Mother and Child), Wardha Road in Nagpur since 13th April. His platelet levels dropped again, and he’s getting transfusions to help him recover. We hope he can go home in 2–3 days.
I used to work in a private company. But since all this started, I’ve had to stay close to home and my son. Now, I work with my family in farming. We’ve been getting by with help from relatives, friends, and some government aid. But the cost of treatment is high. We give all we have.
This is where my son needs your help, your donations will help him get the chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant he needs.
All I ask is for him to get the chance to live a full, healthy life. That is my only dream.
