My name is Altaf Laskar, and I am a father to an innocent 8-year-old boy named Afjal Hussain Laskar. Afjal is a cheerful child who dreams of running, playing, and living a normal childhood like every other child his age. But today, those simple dreams are slipping away.
A Life-Threatening Diagnosis
Afjal has been diagnosed with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a rare and progressive genetic disorder that weakens muscles over time. Doctors at Manipal Hospital, Whitefield, Bengaluru have advised an immediate life-saving injection to slow the progression of this disease and give my son a chance at life.
An Impossible Financial Burden
The treatment costs an unimaginable ₹17,00,00,000 (17 Crores). I run a small ration shop, and my wife is a housewife. Our daily earnings are just enough to survive—we cannot even dream of arranging such a huge amount on our own.
A Father’s Helplessness
As a parent, it breaks my heart to watch my son grow weaker each day, knowing that a treatment exists but is beyond our reach. Time is running out, and every delay puts Afjal’s life at greater risk.

अफजल को ड्यूशेन मस्कुलर डिस्ट्रॉफी (DMD) का पता चला है, जो एक दुर्लभ और बढ़ने वाली जेनेटिक बीमारी है जो समय के साथ मांसपेशियों को कमजोर कर देती है। बेंगलुरु के व्हाइटफील्ड, मणिपाल हॉस्पिटल के डॉक्टरों ने इस बीमारी को बढ़ने से रोकने और मेरे बेटे को ज़िंदगी का मौका देने के लिए तुरंत एक जान बचाने वाला इंजेक्शन लगाने की सलाह दी है।
एक नामुमकिन आर्थिक बोझ
इलाज का खर्च ₹17,00,00,000 (17 करोड़) है। मेरी एक छोटी सी राशन की दुकान है, और मेरी पत्नी हाउसवाइफ है। हमारी रोज़ की कमाई सिर्फ़ गुज़ारा करने के लिए काफी है - हम इतनी बड़ी रकम खुद से जुटाने का सपना भी नहीं देख सकते।
एक पिता की बेबसी
एक माता-पिता के तौर पर, यह देखकर मेरा दिल टूट जाता है कि मेरा बेटा हर दिन कमजोर होता जा रहा है, यह जानते हुए कि इलाज मौजूद है लेकिन हमारी पहुँच से बाहर है। समय निकलता जा रहा है, और हर देरी अफजल की ज़िंदगी को ज़्यादा खतरे में डाल रही है।
