My brother Sandeep has been the backbone of our family. As farmers, our life has never been easy, but Sandeep never complained. From sunrise to sunset, he worked in the fields so our parents and family could live with dignity.

In June 2021, our lives changed forever when doctors told us he had kidney cancer. I still remember the fear in his eyes when he was told that his left kidney had to be removed to stop the cancer from spreading. Watching my strong brother lie on a hospital bed instead of working in the fields broke my heart.

Recently, doctors told us that the cancer has affected nearby glands and lymph nodes, and he now needs advanced treatment including immunotherapy and chemotherapy. They have warned us that treatment must begin urgently.

We have done everything to provide for his treatment. Our family borrowed money, took loans, and sold whatever little we had. So far, we have spent nearly ₹20 lakhs on his treatment. For a small farming family like ours, this amount is unimaginable.

I work as a daily wage labourer, and my income is barely enough to support our household. Earlier, my brother stood beside me and helped our family. But today, he is too weak to even carry out simple daily activities.

As a brother, it is heartbreaking to see him suffer.

Sandeep’s only dream is simple, to recover, return to the fields, and support our parents again.
