The Save the Sight Program

A cataract is a natural phenomenon where the lens in the eye turns foggy. It is most common amongst individuals who fall in the age group of 50+.

As per recent statistics from the National Center of Biotechnology and Information (NCBI), over 3.8 million Indians annually contract cataract. India currently requires over 1 crore cataract surgeries.

For the success of Global Vision 2020: The right to sight initiative by the World Health Organization (WHO), India aims to improve visual outcomes after cataract surgery and sight restoration rate and elimination of blindness.

In keeping with the mission, IGF-India with Prystin Care will make cataract surgery affordable to at least 20 Lakh (2 million) people who can't afford it.

Program Details

To solve the problem of blindness due to cataract in India, IGF-India is raising funds that will sponsor Pristyn Care to perform cataract operations for those whose surgeries have been delayed due to a lack of disposable funds.

Eligibility

Anyone with a BPL card can register for the program.
The monthly income of a household should not exceed Rs. 20,000.
Patients should not be enrolled in any health schemes to register for the program.
Patients must not have any health insurance (group or individual) to register for this program.
