Until two years ago, he was self-employed, running a small business and taking pride in being the provider for our family. Life was going smoothly. My father, Ashwani worked hard every single day to give us stability and security. But at 47, that same man struggles to breathe, walk, and eat.
From April 2025, my father has been diagnosed with Decompensated Chronic Liver Disease with ascites, and later with Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure with hepatic encephalopathy. His body has weakened drastically, he has lost weight, his skin has turned yellow from jaundice, fluid has filled his abdomen and lungs, his feet remain swollen, and even basic activities exhaust him.
The doctors at Aakash Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital, Delhi, have made it clear that a liver transplant is his only chance to survive. Medicines can only keep him stable for a short time. Without a transplant, we are running out of options and time.
Now, my mother is the only earning member, trying to hold everything together while caring for my father and supporting two children who are still studying. We have already spent around 6 lakh rupees from our savings, and we are struggling to manage daily expenses, let alone a life-saving transplant.
