With time, she has become my best friend. Daughters are truly special, and for a father, it’s a love beyond words. From the moment I brought her home from the hospital after her birth, my world has revolved entirely around her.

My name is Sumanta Khan, and I am the father of 23-year-old Sima Khan. Every time I look at my daughter, I feel incredibly blessed.

But today, my precious daughter is suffering. She is not responding. It all began on 9th July, with what seemed like a simple stomach pain. A visit to the doctor changed our world forever. My daughter became paralysed. Each day since has been filled with pain and uncertainty.

The doctors had to perform a tracheostomy — a surgical opening in the windpipe — to help her breathe, as her natural airway was compromised. At first, she was placed on ventilator support to keep her alive. Now, she is given only liquid food.

This unexpected medical crisis has turned our lives upside down. The doctors at Manipal Hospitals, Bengaluru, are doing everything they can, but we need your support. Every day is a battle — for her, and for all of us.

Sima’s dream has always been to become a nurse. She had already appeared for her nursing entrance exams before this tragedy struck. We want her to recover and fulfil that dream.

We pray every day for her recovery, but along with prayers, we now need your support. Her hospital treatment charges run into several lakhs, and as a small retailer, I am struggling to bear the costs alone.
