This 2-year-old will die unless you do something
My wife and I have spent many sleepless nights dreading that we’ll have to watch our son’s demise.
Ever since the doctors informed Ramakrishna and his wife that their son will need an operation within three months to survive, the two have been fighting against time. For a daily wage laborer who struggles to put two meals on the table every day, putting together a staggering amount of Rs. 22,00,000, needed for the surgery, is an unthinkable feat.
It all started in October 2015 when their beloved son Nihaal was born with a rare liver disorder called Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis, which is caused by a defect in the liver’s ability to secrete bile. As a consequence, ever since his birth, he has been going through intense itching. Ramakrishna says the itch is so unbearable that Nihaal itches his body day and night, to an extent which has caused wounds on his body that bleed.
Ramakrishna and his wife have consulted with several doctors and visited innumerable hospitals in pursuit of finding the cure for their son’s condition, but in vain. Several medicines were prescribed, yet Nihaal’s condition continued to worsen every day.
But it wasn’t just the money, they also needed a suitable donor. Getting an organ donor in India requires months of waiting. But, Nihaal’s condition was deteriorating each day. Seeing his son’s condition, Nihaal’s mother agreed to be a living liver donor, if that’s what it would take to save her child’s life.
The only thing that stands in the way of Nihaal’s life is raising Rs. 22 lacs.
This is when the good people at the Rainbow Hospital (where Nihaal is currently being treated) told them about crowdfunding, an easy way to raise funds for Nihaal’s transplant within 3 months. At a stage where no other method to raise the money seemed to be working, they immediately decided to set up a fundraiser on the leading online crowdfunding platform, Impact Guru.
It has been 45 days since then and the contributions from people so far have amounted to Rs. 2,28,689. With the help of hundreds of kind donors online who are donating towards their cause, the family has found a glimmer of hope to hold on to.
Nihaal’s fundraiser is still on and is in need of urgent funds. You can help save the life of this 2-year old by making a simple contribution here.
