A year ago, my daughter Srija was like any other 14-year-old child. She loved going to school, studying with her friends, and dreaming about her future. As a father, I only wanted to see her grow, learn, and live happily.
But everything changed when she started complaining about severe pain in her leg. After several tests, doctors told us something no parent is ever prepared to hear, our daughter had bone cancer.
Since then, our lives have revolved around hospitals, chemotherapy sessions, medicines, and fear.
Watching Srija cry in pain because of swelling and tenderness breaks me every single day. She has already undergone 6 chemotherapy sessions, but the treatment had to stop temporarily because her immunity became dangerously low. Doctors say the next phase of treatment must continue soon.
I work as a private teacher, and I am the only earning member of our family. We have already spent more than ₹15 lakhs through savings, loans, and even selling jewellery. But despite all our efforts, we are struggling to continue her treatment.
The hardest part is watching my daughter miss out on her childhood. She had to stop going to school because of cancer. Yet even now, she tells me she wants to recover and continue her studies.
As a father, I have only one dream which is to see my daughter healthy again and watch her walk back into her classroom with a smile.
