When he was just a little boy, I had dreamt that my son, Shahul Hameed, would be running around and laughing, enjoying his life but....My son, Shahul, had been diagnosed with thalassemia since his childhood. While other children ran and played, my son spent his days in hospitals while needles, transfusions, and silent pain became his reality.
Every 15 days, he needs blood transfusions of 400-500 ml to survive. I have watched him grow weaker, his body unable to keep up, his dreams after completing his bachelors in the medical lab tech field are quietly fading behind hospital walls. Even today, at 26, he looks much younger… because this disease never let him live fully, he even has stunted physical growth.
We have been holding onto hope. From savings, borrowings and even spending everything we had, over ₹40 lakhs just to keep him alive and get his treatment going.
Now, doctors have given us a ray of hope, a bone marrow transplant has to be administered. My son has a matching donor. He has a chance to live a normal life but the treatment is critical, time-sensitive and any delay may affect his chances of recovery.
The treatment costs us lakhs. To give him that chance, your support is crucial.
