Our life was simple. I am an autorickshaw driver, a husband and a father. But life took a turn for my wife, our lives were disrupted ever since….
My wife, Sarita, has been fighting cancer for years. In 2013, when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer, our world shattered. She went through surgery, losing her breast, but she never lost her courage. She smiled through pain, stayed strong for our children, and held our family together.
We thought the worst was behind us.
But in December 2025, the cancer came back, this time more aggressive. It has now spread to her liver and bones. I have seen her go from a strong, caring mother to someone who struggles to even eat or sit up. After her first chemotherapy, her body became so weak that she had to be admitted to the ICU with severe infection.
Sarita continues to struggle with poor appetite, weight loss, and pain due to cancer spreading to her liver and bones. But the doctors have told us clearly that Sarita needs two more chemo injections urgently and each injection costs around ₹1.5 lakh.
I drive my auto every day, but no matter how hard I work, I cannot arrange this kind of money. We have already spent more than ₹4 lakh, used all our savings, and taken help from wherever we could. But we still need lakhs more.
At home, we try to stay strong, but I can't help thinking of when things will get better.
Sarita still dreams. She tells me, “When I get better, let’s go to Ganpatipule… I want to take Bappa’s blessings with all of you.”
I don’t have any answers right now. All I know is that I want my wife to heal, to watch her fulfill her dream and to see her eyes shine bright once again.
