I’m Aashi Sahni, 26 years old. Most people know me through my videos and social media, where I try to spread smiles and positivity. But today, I’m not here as a creator — I’m here as a daughter, asking for help to save my mother.
Life has never been easy for us financially, and I’ve always worked hard, juggling multiple jobs to keep things running. My mom, Sangeeta Sahni, has been my biggest strength through everything. She raised me with love, sacrificed for my dreams, and supported me at every step of life. She is my anchor, my comfort, and the heart of my world.
But on the evening of January 30th, 2026, our lives changed forever.
My mom was doing her daily prayers and lighting a diya, something she has done countless times before. In a tragic accident, her saree caught fire. Within seconds, the flames spread and trapped her. Before anyone could help, she suffered 80–90% third-degree burns. The injuries were severe and devastating.
She was already dealing with health challenges like high blood pressure, diabetes, and partial paralysis from a past stroke, which made this situation even more critical.
I rushed her to the National Burns Centre in Navi Mumbai, where she has been in the ICU since January 31st. She is on ventilator support, surrounded by machines, fighting infections every day. Doctors say her recovery will be long and extremely complicated. She will need 3–4 months of hospitalisation, multiple skin grafts, and four major reconstructive surgeries.
The medical expenses are overwhelming. In just the first three days of treatment, we have already spent ₹10–15 lakh on ICU care, medicines, dressings, and emergency procedures. Unfortunately, my mother’s health insurance had lapsed earlier due to her pre-existing medical conditions, and after suffering a heart attack just six months ago, her health was already fragile. Every single expense is now coming directly from our savings. With months of ICU care, multiple surgeries, and ongoing treatment ahead, the total cost is expected to cross ₹50 lakh and continues to rise every day.
Every night, I sit beside her hospital bed, hold her bandaged hand, and pray she gets better. I talk to her, hoping she can hear me, telling her she has to come back home. Seeing her in pain and being unable to do enough is the hardest thing I’ve ever faced.
