Over the past few months, we have worked hard to wean off the home bipap ventilator by reducing the settings from PS10 to PS8, which means that Reshma is able to breathe more spontaneously on her own. The plan to wean off continues to be central as part of her rehabilitation and we are aiming to keep weaning it off and reach lower settings over the next two months. Her tilt table and other physiotherapy exercises are also going rigorously.

We also have a new, significant update from the neurophysicians and intensivists who have been treating Reshma. They have recommended a new test called Nodopathy Antibody Panel, which can help us determine if she can be given a new medicine called Rituximab, which can help her regain some strength and accelerate her recovery. The cost of this medicine is approximately Rs 100,000 and she will need to be admitted in the hospital to administer these injections (2 grams, given in milligrams for 5 or 6 hours on each day). After the first dose, we will have to take her to the hospital again after 14 days for the second dose, which will once again cost approximately Rs 100,000
