My 5-year-old Priyadarshika had a high fever, chills, and was feeling very weak. Then she began having trouble breathing, complained of chest pain, and would sweat a lot at night. We brought her to the Institute of Child Health, Kolkata, and after tests, doctors told us she is dealing with multiple serious conditions, Oesophageal Stricture, Peritonitis, Respiratory Distress, and Aspiration Pneumonia.
They also found a severe heart infection, and said her immunity is very low, which is making things worse. She is currently in the ICU. She was on a ventilator earlier and is now on high-flow oxygen, but her condition is still critical and needs constant care.
Seeing her like this is very difficult for me. I’m just waiting outside the ICU, hoping she responds well to the treatment. Doctors have told us that she needs continuous ICU support and close monitoring right now.

আমার ৫ বছর বয়সী প্রিয়দর্শিকার প্রচণ্ড জ্বর, কাঁপুনি এবং শরীর খুব দুর্বল লাগছিল। এরপর তার শ্বাস নিতে কষ্ট হতে শুরু করে, বুকে ব্যথার কথা বলে এবং রাতে খুব ঘাম হতো। আমরা তাকে কলকাতার ইনস্টিটিউট অফ চাইল্ড হেলথ-এ নিয়ে আসি এবং পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষার পর ডাক্তাররা আমাদের জানান যে সে একাধিক গুরুতর অসুস্থতায় ভুগছে, যেমন—অন্ননালীর সংকোচন (Oesophageal Stricture), পেরিটোনাইটিস (Peritonitis), শ্বাসকষ্ট (Respiratory Distress) এবং অ্যাসপিরেশন নিউমোনিয়া (Aspiration Pneumonia)।
তারা আরও একটি গুরুতর হার্ট ইনফেকশন শনাক্ত করেছেন এবং বলেছেন যে তার রোগ প্রতিরোধ ক্ষমতা খুব কম, যা পরিস্থিতিকে আরও খারাপ করে তুলছে। সে বর্তমানে আইসিইউ-তে আছে। তাকে আগে ভেন্টিলেটরে রাখা হয়েছিল এবং এখন হাই-ফ্লো অক্সিজেন দেওয়া হচ্ছে, কিন্তু তার অবস্থা এখনও সংকটজনক এবং সার্বক্ষণিক পরিচর্যা প্রয়োজন।
তাকে এই অবস্থায় দেখাটা আমার জন্য খুব কঠিন। আমি শুধু আইসিইউ-এর বাইরে অপেক্ষা করছি, এই আশায় যে সে চিকিৎসায় ভালোভাবে সাড়া দেবে। ডাক্তাররা আমাদের বলেছেন যে এই মুহূর্তে তার নিরবচ্ছিন্ন আইসিইউ সাপোর্ট এবং নিবিড় পর্যবেক্ষণ প্রয়োজন।
