“I never knew a heart could feel this much joy and pain all at once.” The day my son Pratyush was born, I remember holding him close and thinking, this is what pure happiness feels like. His tiny fingers wrapped around mine, his soft breath against my chest - he made me a father, and with that came a love I didn’t know I was capable of.
But today, that same joy has turned into a quiet, aching fear.

My name is Shrikant, and my 2-year-old son Pratyush suffered from liver failure. His health deteriorated so suddenly that we didn’t have time to process it. One moment he was playing, the next, he was fighting for his life. Doctors at Gleneagles Hospital, Parel, Mumbai, have told us that a liver transplant is his only hope. Without it, we will lose him.
It breaks me even to lift him. He is so fragile, so tired, yet his eyes still search mine with hope - a hope to get better, a hope to see a better tomorrow. “He wants to go home. He looks at the door sometimes, as if he’s waiting for all this to be over.” And I want nothing more than to make that happen.
But the cost of the transplant is expensive. The amount we can't manage alone. That’s why I’m turning to you. If you're reading this, please know - your kindness could be the reason my son gets a second chance at life.
