My baby girl Shradha is fourteen months old. She is slowly learning to talk. She is yet to start school and spends all her waking time playing with her toys in our small, humble home in Delhi. Her mother, my wife, stays with her round the clock, while I go out at least six days a week to make a living for all of us, driving a car with a big company, which pays me about nine thousand rupees per month.
The reason my wife has to stay with Shradha constantly is that our baby daughter is very sick. When she was just two months old, she was diagnosed with a hole in her heart. It was a congenital heart defect and doctors said that she must have open heart surgery as soon as possible to correct the problem; then our Shradha could lead the normal and happy life of a toddler her age.
We got her treatment started at one of the Apollo Hospitals units in Delhi but couldn’t keep it up for too long. All our savings were spent on ensuring that Shradha got her initial round of treatment, but we had to get her released from the hospital and bring her home because we simply didn’t have the money to continue paying the heavy bills anymore.
Not only have we depleted our savings, but we have also mortgaged what little property we had in a bid to collect some money for Shradha’s surgery and postoperative care. She will also have to be on expensive medication for months at least, and visit the doctor whose consultation charges we have to be able to afford. I have no funds to pay for my little daughter’s treatment at this moment, and am fully dependent on the kindness, compassion and generosity of strangers like you to usher my baby from her dangerous condition to full health.
Please give to this fundraiser so Shradha can have her operation and live like other healthy children. I also urge you to share this fundraiser on Facebook and other social media to help us reach more empathetic people like yourself. Our gratitude will forever be with you.
