The stage has always been her sanctuary, a place where she could pour her soul into every movement, connecting with audiences across the world. Leena Vaswani, an award-winning belly dancer, is more than just a performer—she’s an artist, a teacher, an organizer, and a beacon of inspiration for dancers everywhere. Having performed in over 600 shows globally and celebrated in more than 75 news articles, Leena’s passion for dance has touched countless lives.
Currently: Leena needs extensive physiotherapy for 6 months due to the severe fractures and injuries she faces in her knee, pelvic bone and wrist. Recovery will take approximately 7 to 8 months but she is still unable to stand.

But on the evening of November 28th, everything changed.
Leena was crossing a road in Mumbai when a speeding scooter, in a cruel twist of fate, struck her down in a hit-and-run accident. The impact shattered her pelvis and wrist, leaving her with injuries so severe that she required two major surgeries:
A pelvic reconstruction surgery,
- involving plates, screws,
- and a bone graft to mend complex fractures that very few surgeons in the country could undertake.
A wrist surgery to repair the damage caused by the fall.
The surgeries were successful, but Leena’s journey to recovery has only just begun.
“I want to stand on my own two feet again, I want to recover and live my dream of dancing.”- Leena.

The Aftermath: A Life Paused
- For a dancer whose body is her instrument, the accident has been devastating. Leena, a self-employed artist who relies on her craft to sustain herself, is now confined to bed rest.
- She faces months of gruelling physiotherapy,
- trauma counselling,
- and strength training before she can even consider returning to her passion.
While her insurance covered part of the initial costs, the ongoing expenses for physiotherapy, imaging, counselling, in-home care, and medications are far beyond her reach.

Why This Matters
Leena’s life is dance, and dance is her life. Her performances have inspired aspiring dancers, brought communities together, and showcased the beauty of belly dance to the world. To see her sidelined by this tragedy is heartbreaking, but what remains unshaken is her determination.
“I will rise again,” Leena says with conviction. “I will dance again, not just for myself, but for everyone who believes in the power of resilience...”
But she cannot do this alone.

How You Can Help
Your support can help Leena reclaim her life, her passion, and her place on the stage. This is not just about funding a recovery—it’s about giving a beloved dancer the chance to heal, to inspire, and to return to doing what she loves most: bringing joy through dance.
Together, we can help Leena rise again. Let’s join hands to support her on this journey of resilience and hope.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Team Leena
